The chords of C Major are: C | Dm | Em | F | G | Am | Bdim
Chords of a major scale are formed using the following formula:
Major | Minor | Minor | Major | Major | Minor | Diminished
Using the C scale as an example the chords derived using the formula will be
C Major D Minor E Minor F Major G Major A Minor B Diminished
Using the G scale as an example and the same formula chords derived are:
G Major A Minor B Minor C Major D Major E Minor F Diminished
This formula also applies when adding 7ths, 9ths etc and is only valid for major scales. Will explain further in class
